The Treatment Process
At our clinic, we focus on restoring proper joint mechanics in order to allow the body to restore function and reduce pain.
Although we may use modalities, our focus is on manual therapy sessions, with comprehensive home exercise programs that allow for faster independence and a better experience.
Your initial assessment will consist of a medical and accident history, along with a thorough assessment of the region affected. An initial treatment of the area will be performed and then you will be given a comprehensive exercise program, complete with diagrams to do at home.
Each visit thereafter will consist of approximate half hour sessions, one on one with your physiotherapist. During these visits, your therapist will focus on restoring proper joint and muscle mechanics so that the body can in turn focus on healing itself. As able, your exercises will be progressed.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Please wear comfortable clothes that do not restrict movement, and will allow your physiotherapist to visualize the area of injury, if possible. Also bring extended health insurance information, WSIB claim information, and/or MVA claim information, if applicable.
Do I need a referral from my Doctor for physiotherapy treatment?
Physiotherapists are primary health care providers so you do not require a referral to see one. However, in some circumstances, insurance companies may require you to get a Doctor’s referral in order to be reimbursed for the costs of your treatment.
Can you direct bill my insurance company?
We are able to direct bill to several insurance companies, including Great West Life, Greenshield and Sunlife. Please contact the clinic for more details if you do not see your insurance company listed.
Is physiotherapy covered under OHIP?
Synergy Centre Physiotherapy is a private outpatient clinic that unfortunately is not covered under OHIP.
Do you take Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) claims?
Synergy Centre Physiotherapy will treat any motor vehicle accident injuries that can be treated within the scope of physiotherapy. Please notify the clinic if your injury is related to an MVA as there is additional documentation required to submit a claim through your insurance company.
Do you take WSIB claims?
Synergy Centre Physiotherapy is registered with the Workplace Safety & Insurance Board. We will see any workplace injury that can be treated within the scope of physiotherapy. A referral from your doctor is not necessary for WSIB claims.
